It’s impossible to classify this lovely wedding with a particular label. “It was very unique,” says Alina, “the bride’s dress was like a magical blue butterfly and the decor was filled with succulents, tropical flowers, moss and other assortment of greenery and flowers.”

Geranios Flowers at the Walton House

The bride had a very clear idea of what she wanted for the decor. She is a science teacher and a botanist at heart, so Alina gathered all the ideas that would reflect the bride’s style and personality, and worked closely with the florist, Geranios Flowers, to find the pieces they felt would work best. With a lot of research and a lot of tweaking the final product was on point!

The Walton House was the ideal venue. This charming cottage was built in 1917, and it isn’t typical of other houses in the rural south from that time, instead, it resembles the quintessential English cottage. It is even surrounded by an English country flower garden, and the whole property is set within a lush, tropical environment brimming with rare and exotic plants, flowers, waterfalls, a coral rock swimming pool, swans, Japanese Koi, exotic birds, and even flamingos.

Farm tables, succulent plants, terrariums as table centerpieces, moss, tropical flowers, and an assortment of colors and textures reminiscent of nature came together beautifully with rustic farm tables and bistro lights for a decor perfectly suited to a bride who is passionate about botany, science and nature.

A Butterfly Themed Idea at the Walton House

The butterfly theme for this wedding was inspired by a Tallit that was crocheted for the bride’s sister’s wedding by their late grandmother. They knew they wanted to honor their grandmother with the Tallit so they decided to use it as a backdrop to the sweetheart table. This beautiful heirloom inspired the color palette and the butterfly garden theme.

It was an added bonus when the bride found a dreamy, whimsical dress that was true to her style and resembled a butterfly.

The decor for the wedding was always consistent with the pastel color theme and butterfly motif. There were personal details everywhere, like the tallit and the adorable succulent plants with a note that read “ Handmade by Sam and planted by Dan. Please take one home and let love grow.”

Nothing welcomes guests better than a bar serving freshly prepared, chilled, tropical cocktails. Libations by Thierry Isambert used house-made syrups and local ingredients for signature craft cocktails that paired beautifully with passed hors d’oeuvres which are essential to tide guests over until after the ceremony. Guests and family members are usually so busy preparing for the big day they don’t sit down to eat, so light bites and refreshments are essential.

The ceremony was idyllic. It took place in a clearing in the tropical garden which accentuated the intimate ambiance. Family and friends looked on from white garden chairs set out in the shade of the property’s greenery, and the bride’s bouquet was a beautiful array of pinks from the gentle blush peonies to bright roses.

there were so many unique details throughout this wedding, and one of our favorites was the groom’s handmade tap bar that served his very own home-brewed beer. The tap bar was the perfect personal touch; it represented the groom’s passion and it was something he was able to share with everyone.

The Dinner at the Walton House

This couple and their family had high expectations about the food. I knew I had to introduce them to Thierry Isambert’s team. They wanted an open menu for their guests. The catering team was extremely accommodating with this. As guests sat down they were able to view the menu and choose their entree choice. The couple wanted to make sure that the food was incredible and anything but ordinary. Kind of just like them.
