An Urban Chic Wedding at MAPS BACKLOT - Wynwood Arts District /August 14, 2016 by Eric Monteiro

Thierry Isambert Culinary and Event design catered Lida and Christian's wedding at MAPS BACKLOT in Wynwood, Miami's thriving arts district. Lida's late father was a painter, and the modern "gallery feel" offered by Maps Backlot provided the perfect backdrop to showcase her father's incredible artwork during the event.

The Wynwood Arts District is a hub of art and culture in Miami and boasts over 70 art galleries, retail stores, antique shops, hip restaurants and eclectic bars. Wynwood is also famous for the largest open-air street-art installations in the world. There's a really great vibe in Wynwood, the streets are always bustling with activity and the area is expanding rapidly with cool new shops and restaurants popping up all over the place!

MAPS BACKLOT is a unique indoor-outdoor photo studio and event space. Their stunning photo studios are the setting for numerous high-profile photo and TV commercial shoots, and double as an outstanding venue for chic, edgy urban weddings and other events.

Photographer, Joshua Kane, took these amazing shots of Lida and Christian's stylish wedding, and this series was featured on the "Photo Forward" blog. Joshua said of shooting this wedding; "The neighborhood is incredibly vibrant and colorful due to the ever-changing artwork covering literally every building. Taking interesting portraits surrounded by such awesomeness was an absolute thrill!"

Lida and Christian are Lebanese and German, and evidence of their cultural backgrounds was incorporated beautifully into this celebration. For example, the "Baumstamm Sägen" is a traditional German log-sawing ceremony which symbolizes how a couple should work together to overcome the challenges presented by marriage.

Recent Events

A week full of fun and creativity; we work hard, but love the challenge, the friends that are made along the way and the many beautiful moments, particularly at special celebrations such as important birthday milestones and baby or wedding showers.

Why not throw a decadent afternoon tea party to celebrate your birthday with 20 girlfriends? We love the idea, and the spread at this beautiful Miami Beach private residence was fabulous. We laid out Petit Fours, little sandwiches, mini quiches, macarons and pastries. This particular tea involved copious amounts of champagne too, and I can definitely relate to that! As Coco Chanel once said: "I only drink champagne on two occasions. When I am in love and when I am not," cheers I say!

Desserts, Petit Fours, Chocolates, Pastries, Cakes and Pièces Montées, ohmygosh, the delectable fragrance of these sweet treats baking in our kitchen brings back the best of childhood memories, like coming home from school to my mom’s freshly baked cookies, or spending Saturday afternoon making cakes with my grandmother. However, sorry mom and grandma, as wonderful as your baking was, French Chef Pâtissier, Bruno Legros, is in another league!

Recent Event Highlights: Weddings Galore & More!

There is never a dull day for caterers and event planners! A few weeks ago, large corporate events were keeping us very busy. Well, this week has seen a revival of romance with an array of fabulous weddings. There have been destination weddings for couples and their guests escaping the chilly northern states for a few days of sun, fun and love in our beautiful city, as well as stunning celebrations for local lovebirds.

As the exclusive caterer for The New World Center, Thierry Isambert Culinary and Event Design catered the New World Symphony Gala: 1000, celebrating its 28th anniversary and the important milestone of 1000 alumni. The 500 influential guests were surprised by 10 time grammy winner and NWS co-founder, Michael Tilson Thomas, joining Master of Ceremonies, Malcolm MacDowell on stage.

Phil & Orianne Collins' Little Dreams Foundation's 2nd Annual benefit Gala - Dreaming On The Beach

Thierry Isambert Culinary and Event Design catered the VIP cocktail and sit-down dinner for 400 guests at The Little Dreams Foundation 2nd Annual Benefit Gala, Dreaming On The Beach. For 16 years the foundation, founded by Phil and Orianna Collins, has been helping talented children with limited financial means achieve their dreams in the fields of arts, sports and music. The foundation uses all funds raised to support children, selected from around the world, with personalized training and professional mentors, giving them the opportunity to pursue their passion.

Catering The 8th Annual Vizcaya Preservation Luncheon (2016)

Thierry Isambert Culinary and Event Design produced and catered the 8th annual Vizcaya Preservation Luncheon on Tuesday February 25th.

Mingling in the shade of the majestic live oaks in the estate’s exquisite gardens, three hundred of Miami's most stylish denizens enjoyed a pre-lunch cocktail reception. Prosecco was in abundance, provided by sponsor Dall’Armellina Vineyard, and throughout the cocktail and luncheon, models showcased fashions from sponsor, Neiman Marcus.
