A FRENCH-INSPIRED AFFAIR: CATERING THE 17TH ANNUAL VIZCAYA PRESERVATION LUNCHEON / by Eric Monteiro

The 17th Annual Vizcaya Preservation Luncheon, affectionately known as “the hat luncheon,” brought together Miami’s most stylish philanthropists for an elegant afternoon in support of historic preservation. This year’s event, held on March 4, 2025, transformed Vizcaya’s stunning waterfront into a scene reminiscent of a French country luncheon, where shades of pink set the tone for a sophisticated and lively celebration.

Guests arrived donning spectacular hats, turning the lush gardens into a dazzling display of fashion and creativity. The afternoon began with a cocktail reception in the Main House Courtyard, where attendees mingled under the estate’s iconic glass canopy, enjoying refreshing beverages and live music from the Bay Kings Trio.

A beautifully curated multi-course luncheon followed on the East Terrace, meticulously designed, produced, and catered by Thierry Isambert Culinary and Event Design. Every detail, from the elegant blush-toned table settings to the vibrant magenta floral arrangements, evoked the charm of a countryside gathering in Provence. Glassware, napkins, and stationery all reflected the pink color palette, creating a warm and inviting ambiance.

Emmy-winning journalist Laurie Jennings hosted the event alongside Vizcaya’s Executive Director, Joel Hoffman, who spoke on the importance of preserving Vizcaya for future generations. The highlight of the afternoon was the fashion contest, judged by a panel of style experts. Awards were given to Amanda Rodriguez for Best Overall, Ana Christina de Fortuna for Most Elegant, and Katharine Rubino for Best Hat.

Beyond the glamour, the luncheon raised essential funds to protect and maintain Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, donors, and guests, the event supported the conservation of this National Historic Landmark, ensuring it remains a treasured part of Miami’s cultural landscape.
