VIZCAYA MUSEUM AND GARDENS / by Eric Monteiro

One of Miami’s crowned jewels is the spectacular Vizcaya Museum and Gardens on Biscayne Bay, accessible from South Bayshore Drive. The extraordinary beauty and unique history of this Italian renaissance villa with formal French gardens attracts over 300,000 visitors a year. Vizcaya is also one of South Florida's most sought-after venues for catered weddings and corporate events in Miami. Read about this Venue and More below with Thierry Isambert.

Vizcaya was built between 1914 and 1922 by retired businessman and millionaire, James Deering, and was named a National Historic Landmark in 1994. The building was inspired by European architecture and all of the antique furniture, fixtures and artwork were imported from Spain and Italy but the local materials and native plants really connect the estate with the location.
