FLAVORS & FINESSE: THE VOODOO LOUNGE AT THE ICE PALACE STUDIOS / by Eric Monteiro

Mid-town Miami, The Ice Palace Studios transformed into another realm for a lavish party, curated by international event planner and designer, Colin Cowie. The evening was an exquisite blend of flavor, style, and entertainment, with 250 guests in attendance.

The entrance, emblazoned with a sign reading “The Voodoo Lounge”, set the ambiance immediately - edgy and undeniably sexy. The entrance foyer, a portal to an evening of sumptuous celebration, welcomed guests with servers offering crafted cocktails such as the Conjo Malo, a blend of Tequila or Mezcal with spicy herbal organic agave, lime juice, and cold-pressed watermelon, setting the stage for an evening of tantalizing flavors.

The menu was aligned with the evening's ambiance and theme. Passed hors d'oeuvres offered a prelude to the main course. Small bites of Philly Cheese Steak, Lamb Kofta, Crispy Pork Spring Rolls, Grilled Shrimp, Micro Mexican Street Corn, among others, tantalized the palate, while servers roamed, shucking fresh oysters for connoisseurs.

The main course featured dinner stations such as the Mini Bistro Plates buffet, offering classics like French Soupe À L’Oignon, Saikyo Miso Chilean Seabass, and Boneless Duck Leg Confit, each dish paired with a curated selection of fine wines. A second buffet station continued the gastronomic adventure with Wild Forest Mushroom Pappardelle, Grilled Rib-eye Cap, and Indian Lentils baked in a red bell pepper.

The exotic dessert station resonated perfectly with the “voodoo lounge” theme: Baba au Rhum, New Orleans Warm Bread Pudding, Tart Tatin, and Beignet with Café du Monde coffee offered a sweet finale to the dining experience.

A cameo by rapper, Nelly, was the cherry on top, his 'Hot in Herre' performance heating up the room, while the gourmet late-night snacks - think mini burgers and chicken-waffle sliders - kept the vibe sizzling until the final curtain.
