Formula One brings the heat — and flavor — to Miami / by Alina Isambert

For the first time ever, F1 went racing in Miami as the top-tier open-wheeled racing circuit's United States expansion continues, with the 2022 Miami Grand Prix having sped onto the scene on May 8 at the Hard Rock Stadium with a layout that included a “Beach Club” with two pools, plus 10 dry-docked yachts, a Champagne room, 32 food vendors and live concerts; all designed to cater to everyone from to high rollers to curiosity-seekers.

START YOUR ENGINES

The illustrious race ushered in days of glitz and glam through parties and cocktails organized by some of the world’s most prestigious brands. The Miami Design District revealed a series of events, activations, and one-of-a-kind experiences open to public for Formula 1 weekend. The festivities kicked off with TAG Heuer’s public racing event at Jungle Plaza and continued with activations and exhibitions hosted by brands like PUMA, Berluti, Mercedes, IWC and Red Bull. Thierry’s was thrilled to keep guests happy and well-fed with trays of items like mini burgers, petit filet mignon with sundried tomato brioche, caramelized Peking duck, and veggie tartare. Attendees sipped on Thierry’s refreshing grapefruit and cucumber infused mocktails, as well as champagne and the evening’s signature cocktails made with vodka and Red Bull.

A COLLECTOR’S DREAM

Friday evening, a select group of car enthusiasts and collectors gathered for a private event at the Tesla dealership in Coral Gables. The fun began with a rooftop cocktail party where hors d’oeuvres like mini stuffed potatoes (papa rellena), spicy tuna on warm risotto cake with truffle, and halloumi cheese and watermelon bites were served by uniformed staff from Thierry’s team. Surrounded by red roses and a gleaming arrangement of the latest models of luxury vehicles, guests then headed indoors for an intimate three-course dinner consisting of a caprese Napolitano salad made with locally sourced burrata, heirloom tomatoes and sundried tomato mousse, a choice of corvina or chianti-braised short rib (a vegetarian option of jackfruit cake was also available), and a choice of Key Lime pie or Thierry’s famous caramel and chocolate dome served with chocolate glaze.

After all was said and done (and eaten), the weekend ended on a winning note.
