THE HISTORIC ALFRED I DUPONT BUILDING / by Eric Monteiro

The Historic Alfred I Dupont Building is a majestic and awe-inspiring 17-storey skyscraper with an exterior of Alabama black granite. It remains Miami's only Art Deco skyscraper, and it opened its doors on Christmas day in 1939. It was originally a bank headquarters and the North Ballroom features the original bank teller windows, now used as a bar. The building was declared an historic landmark in 1992.

The 22,000 square foot mezzanine level is divided into the North and South Ballrooms, both featuring lavish details and soaring ceilings. With elegant historical details and understatedly opulent decor, the venue is highly sought after for an enterprising clientele looking for Miami style accented with New York glamour with Thierry Isambert.

 North Ballroom

The elegance and grandiosity of this 2,000 square foot bank vault are impressive. The wrought-iron bank teller window serves as a unique, ornate bar and there’s an elevated stage over the security vault. The 50,000-pound door to the original bank vault is a fascinating detail found in no other venue. The North Ballroom's features make it an ideal setting for an event of up to 150 people and serve as an excellent cocktail reception area before dinner.

South Ballroom

The 6,500 square foot South Ballroom impresses with its grandeur. With an open floor plan, marble floors and stunning views, the South Ballroom can transform into any space you require, perfect for elegant seated dinners with a breathtaking dance floor. This space accommodates up to 550 people and provides an unforgettable experience.

Over three quarters of a century old, the Alfred I. duPont Building is an extraordinary landmark that reflects the culture and design of past eras while paving the way for future generations. The granite and limestone aesthetics of the exterior and the delicately painted cypress ceiling and marble paneling of the interior evoke the Art Deco style of the late 1920s to 1930s. Stepping into the duPont Building takes you back in time, allowing you to walk in the footsteps of Florida's historical elites, into a marvelously preserved and grandiose piece of history.
