CELEBRATING CHILDREN'S MILESTONES IN STYLE / by Eric Monteiro

A surprising number of events we work on are either for children (Bar/Bat Mitzvahs. Sweet Sixteens, First Communions, Birthday celebrations) or include children, such as weddings where kids are invited. Scroll down for a few recent events for kids and links to articles about lavish children's events that we catered.

CHLOE'S BAT MITZVAH

Chloe's Bat Mitzvah featured a Camden Market theme, this meant a menu offering the popular street food that is found at this famous London market. The decor included custom-made restaurant store fronts to house each international food station. For more information about this event, click here. [Planner: BE Social Events.]

THE BAMBINI SOIREE SUMMIT

"Where Kid Party Makers Gather & Soar"

August 8th - We collaborated with some of the industry’s best, the VIPPs (Very Important Party Pros,) at the first BAMBINI SOIREE SUMMIT at the Eden Roc in Miami Beach.

This event was the first ever kid party industry summit, founded by Bambini Soiree, creators of unique and colorful party decor for children’s events. South Florida event industry professionals shared great ideas and made plenty of connections so we can all step into the season with new friends, allies and ideas!

Fitting the luncheon's "Back To School" theme, our buffet lunch was served on cafeteria-style compartment trays in a room decorated with fun, upbeat school decor.  Click here for more information about this event and for a list of the VIPP sponsors.

Whether you choose large and lavish or intimate but elegant, celebrating your child’s milestones should always be about making your child feel special; themes and planning  should be carefully aligned with your child’s interests. Most children’s parties, however, require at least some catering for adults. Occasionally parents linger when they drop their kids or prefer to stay and keep an eye on their children. Adult friends and family are often important guests for the duration of the event, especially for Bar Mitzvahs and first communions, so it's essential to plan decor, drinks and food for children and grownups alike.

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY!

When the weather's going to be great and your home boasts a beautiful swimming pool, a pool party is always a great idea! None of us remember our first birthday but making it awesome is fun for the parents. Even though the party is all about the child, surviving one year of parenthood with enough energy left to plan a party is an accomplishment you can drink to!

Hunter's first birthday party featured a tropical island theme with a green/yellow color scheme and the pineapple as a key image used throughout the decor. This home was beautifully suited for this type of event; with a waterway beyond the pool, tall palms and a tiki hut already in place, all they had to do was bring in the food, the props, and install a reggae band in the shade of the tiki hut. We LOVE the paddle pops with palm fronds, the pineapple donuts, the tropical fruit pool toys and the birthday boy's name in larger than life letters alongside the pool!

Something For The Parents.......

The 21 and up crowd enjoyed Thierry Isambert's libations, especially the "Maui Mule," made with Kinky Pink Vodka Liqueur, Vodka & Hard Ginger Beer!

AN ELEGANT FIRST COMMUNION

This ethereal first communion celebration was an intimate party of 24 that was held at a private home. Planned by "One Inspired Party," we love how the gracious beauty and subtle elegance of the decor appealed to the adult guests but was nevertheless a perfect option for the children (mostly girls.) They added an elaborate Jumping Castle to the backyard which kept the kids busy when they weren't enjoying the delicious brunch buffet!

Earth & Sugar custom designed this exquisite cake to match the blue and white tableware.

We love the giant white balloons with a trail of green leaves suspended above the pool. In this case, the pool wasn't used and the balloons really elevated the delicate ethereal mood they were going for.

FOOD THE KIDS WILL LOVE

What will we feed the kids?! You may take pride in raising your kids to eat  a little of everything, but no matter how hard some us try, our children just want to live on fried chicken tenders, pizza, pasta and anything with loads of sugar!

When catering for a large group of children, you may want to include a variety of stations featuring different types of foods most children love. We have lots of success with our pasta station where kids can order the pasta of their choice from our chef who prepares it in front of them. The taco station also allows children to build their own tacos, and anything where children get to pick what they want and the amount they want is usually a better option than "one plate for all." Stations also let kids walk around and socialize rather than being confined to a table and served by a waiter.

Check out the list of fun snack foods, desserts and food stations below. For more ideas and information about these types of menu options, click here for "12 Late Night Snacks Your Guests Will love."
